Electrical Inspection And Testing Bath

Having your electrical systems tested and inspected regularly ensures the safety of your home or business, as well as the tenants or staff. For insurance purposes it is advisable to have your property periodically tested every few years. Please see the recommendations for system testing below.

Brigstowe Electrical Services are NICEIC Approved Contractors, as well as Part P Registered. All of the work carried out is certified and guaranteed for 1 Year. We can undertake the following tests: Periodic Test and Inspection now called an EICR Test Certificate as well as Landlord Reports & Certificates, Visual Inspecting Electrical surveys and Fault Finding.

Electrical Installation Condition Report

All electrical installations deteriorate with time and should ideally be inspected and tested every 5 years based on the recommendation from the electrician that installed or previously tested your property. Such safety checks are commonly known as ‘periodic test and inspection’ or ‘electrical installation condition report’. Property insurance providers or local authorities often request them, plus it is always sensible when first moving into a new property to have a EICR carried out.

The inspection will provide an extensive oversight of your complete electrical system. This includes a mechanical, operational and visual check on the consumer unit, fuses and circuit breakers and all visible wiring for any signs of damage from overloading. Next all of the sockets and switches will have their conductors and terminations checked. All circuits are then checked thoroughly for continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and Earth Fault Paths.

Having completely checked the system we will issue you with your electrical certificate to indicate whether your property is satisfactory or unsatisfactory. This will include a grading system for the faults that have been located on a scale of 1 to 3:

1 indicates that this item requires immediate attention

2 indicates that further investigation is required

3 is for any item which may not comply with current IEE Wiring Regulations but is not necessarily unsafe and improvement is recommended.

Electrical Survey Reports

If you are aware that you already have a problem on your electrical system we will not need to carry out an EICR. In this situation we would carry out a Visual inspection. The Visual Inspection will help us to identify the problems that you are having with your system and from this we will be able to issue you with a written report of the problems found and recommendations on how we can resolve the issues with your electrical system.

Electrical Landlord’s Reports / Certificates

Landlords are legally required to provide an Electrical Installation Condition Report for each of their properties. This guarantees the safety of the landlord’s tenants as well as insuring that the property meets current electrical safety regulations. Brigstowe Electrical Services can provide these reports for all landlords to ensure the property that is being rented out is safe for the landlord’s tenants.

Electrical Fault Finding

If you find that you are suffering nuisance tripping problems with your electrical system, for example the same RCD / MCB keeps blowing and you cannot locate the reason for the fault, Brigstowe Electrical Services can provide an electrical fault finding service. Due to our experience in this service we are able to test your circuit / circuits to identify the problem/ problems and rectify the fault with very little disturbance.

Using our knowledge and experience along with our specific electrical test equipment we can identify any issue, even when cables have been flushed into the walls of your property or when cables that have been buried underground. Once this is completed we will then be able advise the client of the reason that the fault has occurred before we replace or repair the issue that caused the fault to occur.
